2019 Promise Week

April 26, 2019
By Admin

2019 Promise Week is Monday, April 29 - Friday, May 3. This is the uniform schedule, the focus of each day and the daily prayer the school will reflect on together.

Not too Much Monday

Monday we are focusing on saying no to drugs. To emphasize staying away from drugs, families will pass out Smarties during family time. Students are to wear the color white on this day.

Prayer: Dear Father, please strengthen us to guard against the dangers of drugs. These dangerous substances harm us emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and especially physically. Help us to remember that we are made for something better and higher than to take drugs just to fit in, look cool, or separate ourselves from reality. The harsh truth about drugs is that they hurt us, people around us and even society. God of strength, please help us to live in this truth. We ask this all through Christ our Lord.

Distracted Driving Tuesday

Tuesday we are focusing on the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol. Students will gather in the gym for assembly to hear a motivational speaker share their experiences of the dangers of driving while intoxicated. Students are to wear the color black on this day.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to remember the dangers of drinking underage and driving under the influence of alcohol. Help us to recognize that it impairs our ability to drive defensively and be cautious on the road. Empower us to resist the temptations of drinking and other harmful substances that could endanger us physically and mentally. We ask this all through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Wondrous Wednesday

Wednesday we are centering on Jesus our wondrous Lord and discerning his will for our lives. We will gather as a Savio community during Holy Mass to worship and honor our God and all the sacrifices he has made for us. Students are to wear their Savio Mass uniform on this day.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, don’t let us go astray. We are suffering from many things in life, from school stress and worry, to college applications, to friendship trouble. Many of us are currently trying to figure out who we are and what our purpose in life is as young men and women of God. Guide us with your love and patience as we advance in our high school career. We ask this all through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Incredible Thursday

Thursday we are focusing on the power and importance of families and parents. The image of a family mirrors the image of the Body of Christ, and families are God’s gift to His children to give us a picture of how magnificent His love is for us. Families will have parties today and watch Incredibles 2. Students are to wear the color red on this day.

Prayer: Dear Father, today we simply ask that you remind us that we are Your children. You are the maker of our desires, the source of our spirits, the yearning of our hearts. You instilled in us something that no human has ever been able to truly fathom: the soul, which is created to receive love and nurturing by You and only You. We ask that you place in each family in the world seeds of goodness and life, so that they may grow in relationship with You. We ask this all through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Selfcare Friday & the Feast Day of St. Dominic Savio

Friday we are focusing on self- love. Students will be reminded that love of self is very important and crucial to success as a person. Cookies will be passed out in the commons during lunch. Students are to wear the color blue and yellow on this day.

Prayer: Dear Father, high school is an important part of our path to self-discovery. Through this fun and challenging time, remind us to care for ourselves by nurturing our bodies and souls with your goodness and truth. If we are nurtured by the Holy Spirit, that positivity will spread to others and create communities of happiness and harmony. Thank you for always offering your abundant life and love to us. We ask this all through Christ our Lord. Amen.
