It Was the Thrill of Victory and the Agony of Defeat for Savio Golf
Our St. Dominic Savio Eagles and Lady Eagles Golf Teams competed in the District Golf Tournament hosted by Austin Regents at the Grey Rock Golf Club. It was a picture perfect day. The weather could not have been better and the course was in great shape, inviting all the golfers to accept the challenge it would provide them this day.
Our Eagles with a Team Total (357) were led by Sophomore Zachary Stewart (90), Senior Captain Clayton Knavel (90), Freshman Z-Je Marcella (88), Freshman Brandon Brown (89) and Sophomore Ryan Rodriguez (103). The Eagles went into the tournament with the ‘Fire Power’ to advance to the next post season tournament, however like each new day, the golf gods had another plan. Our Eagles missed out on advancing by 1 stroke and today may not understand this plan, but one day they will look back and realize how important practice and preparation is to their life endeavors. Our Eagle Medalist - Freshman Christopher Gonzalez (104), Sophomore Matthew Lemp (104) and Senior Jacob Kilburn (116) saw personal bests on the course today.
Our Lady Eagles with a Team Total (389) were led by Sophomore Katie Jones (87), Senior Captain Savanah Acosta (94), Senior Shelbie Sagnes (96), Junior Connor Neill (112), Sophomore Shelby Ferraris (116). The Lady Eagles battled a stomach virus and nerves and kept on ‘Just Playing’ to find themselves advancing to the Regional Tournament in Garland, TX. Our Lady Eagle Medalist - Katie Brooks (124) made positive strides in her tournament play.
The St. Dominic Savio Lady Eagles Golf Team would like your prayers and support as they prepare for Regional play on April 19th when they will travel to Garland.
