St. Dominic Savio Catholic High School

Welcome

Principal's Welcome

Dear Friends and Families of St. Dominic Savio Catholic High School,

Thank you for your interest in and support of our school. In just five years, the Diocese of Austin, various staff and faculty, and the Catholic community of Austin have built St. Dominic Savio Catholic High School into an institution that is brimming with opportunities.  St. Dominic Savio offers a diverse array of experiences for young men and women to grow in faith, service, leadership, wisdom, and physical and artistic talents.

As a Catholic high school, St. Dominic Savio provides tremendous opportunities for spiritual growth through weekly Mass, monthly adoration, a rigorous theology curriculum, class retreats, and service programs. Teachers, staff, the office of formation and ministry, and students work together to explore what it means to be a "Servant Leader in the Image of Christ" every day. For students who live in a culture of secular temptations and challenges, St. Dominic Savio provides a supportive community that inspires our young men and women to understand, embrace, and live out their Catholic faith. A perfect example of this effort is our annual Imago Christi Day, where students perform and reflect upon service experiences at a variety of social and religious organizations around Austin.

Along with opportunities for spiritual growth, St. Dominic Savio offers students a wide variety of athletic, artistic, musical, service, and technological experiences that help them to refine their God-given talents and to become better servant leaders. From captaining athletic teams to presiding over academic and service clubs, to performing in fine arts competitions, to guiding student council, to leading faith organizations, to daily classroom activities, all St. Dominic Savio students are student leaders upon graduation. The penultimate experience of servant leadership at St. Dominic Savio is the senior service project, where seniors research, plan, and fulfill their individual service experience under the guidance of the faculty and staff. Through these servant leader experiences, our young men and women become true Catholic leaders who value teamwork, dedication, service, and integrity.

St. Dominic Savio also provides tremendous opportunities of intellectual development. Through a rigorous college preparatory program that offers thirteen Advanced Placement courses, a full engineering program, and quality instruction and assessment, Savio students are able to achieve remarkable academic growth and success. We are proud to produce graduates who are ready for the rigor of college studies in a variety of disciplines.

Our community is proud to have graduated 5 classes of "Servant Leaders in the Image of Christ." Over 340 graduates are now making differences in communities in and outside the state of Texas. Our alumni have demonstrated their servant leadership by participating in spring break service trips, bible study groups, outdoor faith programs, mission trips to West Africa and AmeriCorps. Our very first class of graduates have done quite well in college and are now pursuing careers in marketing, engineering, social work, teaching, law, and medicine. To our current and future students and families, this is the appeal of a St. Dominic Savio education: to join a generation of Catholic servant leaders who go forth and change the world for the better.

I look forward to helping you seize the opportunities that our faith community at St. Dominic Savio has to offer.

Blessings,

Mr. Morgan Daniels, M.Ed.
