FAQ's

A:  The enrollment for the 2013-2014 school year is 360 students in grades 9 – 12. Our student body represents many different ethnic, geographic, and economic backgrounds. Even though the majority of the student body is of the Catholic faith, St. Dominic Savio Catholic High School welcomes students of all faiths into its community. With 29 teaching faculty members and one guidance professional the student to teacher ratio is 12:1. The average class size is 18 – 20 students. Over 85% of the faculty and staff members have received Post-Baccalaureate education.

A:  St. Dominic Savio is accredited by the Texas Catholic Conference Accreditation Commission (TCCED) and Cognia.

A:  Applications are reviewed for acceptance on a space-available basis. Once we reach capacity, we will accept applications, but students will be placed on a Waiting List for admission.

A:  St. Dominic Savio administers a standardized placement test to all incoming 9th grade students. It is mandatory for all incoming 9th grade students. The results of this test assist in appropriately placing students within the curriculum. 

A:  Yes.  If you are a student at another school and are thinking about transferring to Savio, you may go through the application process.

A: St. Dominic Savio generally does not accept Senior transfer students.  Exceptions may be made for out of state transfers from other Catholic schools, following the completion of the normal admission process.

A: Need-based financial aid is available to qualified families who demonstrate financial need. CLICK HERE for additional financial information. Additional costs families will incur that are not covered by tuition include; uniforms, textbooks and computer. 

A:  St. Dominic Savio will honor credits earned for some high school courses taken in middle school.  However, if you would like to be placed at the Pre-AP level in a specific subject (Math, World Language or English) the student will need to take the readiness exam in that subject to determine placement.

A:  Yes.  St. Dominic Savio is a Catholic school founded by the Diocese of Austin.  A student not affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church is held to the same standards as a Catholic Student. All students are required to earn 4 Theology credits, attend all prayer and worship opportunities, participate in class retreats and complete the community service requirement.
