Busing

Q:  Does St. Dominic Savio have busing?

A:  Yes.

Q:  What is the cost of busing?

A:  The cost of busing is $80.00 per month.

Q:  Are there late afternoon buses for those students who paticipate in sports or other activities?

A:  No.  We will work with families to coordinate car pools for rides and other activities.

Attendance

Q:  What are the attendance policies at St. Dominic Savio?

A:  Regular attendance at school is an absolute necessity for academic success.  Therefore, we will not excuse absences for vacations or for activites, which could be scheduled when school is not in session.  We will update our attendance policies at a later date.

Dress Code

Q:  What is the dress code at St. Dominic Savio?

A:  In the spirit of promoting excellence in all aspects of life, we wish to maintain and enhance a norm of personal appearance which reflects appropriate care, neatness and a sense of self-worth.  It is our goal to set a standard of dress and grooming that inspires and encourages class unity, school identity, and pride.  With the support of the entire St. Dominic Savio community, these guidelines will help engender a positive climate for mature behavior and strong academic performance.  Any student unable to abide by the dress code due to injury, illness or otherwise needs the permission of the principal.

Ladies: Ladies will wear the St. Dominic Savio school uniform plaid skirt or navy blue pant.  The skirt must be neatly hemmed and worn at a modest length (no more than two inches above the knee).  Ladies must wear the approved white St. Dominic Savio school uniform blouse with crest or polo shirt with crest.  Footwear is the navy and white saddle oxford St. Dominic Savio uniform shoe with navy blue socks.  Shoes must be worn in the manner intended (i.e., no stepping on the heel and free of markings).  Ladies will be expected to wear the St. Dominic Savio uniform blazer on special occasions, e.g., Mass days.

  • Hair must be kept in a neat style.  No unusual hair coloring is permitted.
  • The school does not accept responsbility for lost or misplaced valuables.
  • No piercings other than ears with a maximum of two earrings in each ear.  Tattoos must be covered during school, while attending a school function, or when representing the school at any extracurricular event.
  • Students may not wear hats in the building during the school day.

Gentlemen: Gentlemen will wear navy blue St. Dominic Savio uniform slacks with a black St. Dominic Savio uniform belt, white tailored St. Dominic Savio uniform dress shrit with crest or polo shirt with crest, black dress St. Dominic uniform shoes and black dress socks.  Shoes must be worn in the manner intended (i.e., no stepping on heel and free of markings).  On special occasions (i.e., Mass) gentlemen will wear gray St. Dominic Savio uniform slacks with a black St. Dominic Savio uniform belt, white tailored St. Dominic Savio uniform dress shirt with school crest, black dress St. Dominic uniform shoes, black dress socks, and a regulation St. Dominic Savio uniform tie.  All shirt buttons must be buttoned and sleeves may not be rolled.  The St. Dominic Savio uniform blazer with school crest is also required on special occasions.

  • Hair must be neat, clean and well groomed.  Hair must be off one’s face and severe, bizarre and extreme styles and colors are not acceptable.  Hair may extend to the top of the shirt collar.  Excessive side burns are not acceptable.  Ponytails of any sort are not permitted.
  • Facial hair is not permitted.  Gentlemen should arrive clean shaven.
  • The school does not accept responsibility for lost or misplaced valuables.
  • Visible piercing of any part of the body is not permitted.  Tattoos must be covered during school, while attending a school function, or when representing the school at any extracurricular event.
  • Students may not wear hats in the school building.

Q:  When does the school year begin for the 2009/2010 school year?

A:  August 31, 2009.

Q:  When does the school day begin and end?

A:  Classes will begin at 8:30 and end at 3:44.

Q:  Does St. Dominic Savio offer tuition assistance?

A:  Yes.  Please check our website for more information about tuition assitance.  All families that demonstrate need are eligible.

Q:  Is St. Dominic Savio an open or closed campus?

A:  Closed.
