Dear Parents/Guardians:
Thank you for responding to the parent/guardian satisfaction survey. Sixty percent of St. Dominic Savio families responded to the survey, and the results are overwhelmingly positive. There are many successes to celebrate as well as some helpful recommendations for the school to consider. In both instances, the information gleaned from the surveys will help St. Dominic Savio develop inspiring academic, athletic and spiritual traditions at the school.
As you recall, St. Dominic Savio had two goals around parent satisfaction with Educational Excellence and the school’s Catholic Identity. I am happy to report that the school has far exceeded the goals established.
Listed below are some highlights from the parent/guardian satisfaction survey:
94% agree that the school’s Catholic Identity is a high priority and 70% are in strong agreement with that statement.
99% agree that learning is a high priority and 78% are in strong agreement with that statement.
98% agree that they would recommend this school to other parents and 83% are in strong agreement with that statement.
Listed below are two recommendations made several times in the comment section of the survey; also listed is the school’s action plan to address the concerns. Furthermore, I will meet with the Home and School Association’s leadership team to help the school better understand some of the questions that were scored lower than the community prefers.
Parent Recommendation: Grades and assignments need to be updated on EagleNet more frequently.
o School’s Action Plan: The school administration will monitor EagleNet to ensure the most current information is posted and available to parents/students in a timely fashion.
Parent Recommendation: The school needs to provide more opportunities for service.
o School’s Action Plan: The campus ministry team is organizing more opportunities for service this year, and there will be a schedule of service opportunities in subsequent school years. The school will also do a better job at communicating all the examples of service to the school and the community that take place at Savio.
A copy of the results from the entire survey (minus individualized comments) is posted below. Again, thank you for taking time to complete our satisfaction survey. The school continues to be committed to providing the best possible educational experience and promote Servant Leadership. Thank you for your continued support and prayers.
Sincerely,
Kevin Calkins

Sophomore David Bologna sang the National Anthem at a New Orleans Saints football game on Sunday, January 2, 2011. The Saints played the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. David and his family enjoyed prime seats watching their hometown team and as a special treat, met Jimmy Buffet. Congratulations, David.
